I absolutely loved my experience at Knyota. Wonderful, knowledgeable staff; beautiful, quality products; fun educational tastings; and, very bright, clean, aesthetically pleasing space. I didn't feel like I went to a store, but instead had an amazing shopping and beverage tasting experience. Asante sana!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best non-alcoholic wine?
Taste is subjective, so let's focus this response on a general rule of thumb. A helpful approach to navigating the exciting world of non-alcoholic wines.
Seeking a close resemblance to traditional wine?
- Start with the bubbly! Sparkling whites and rosés are generally considered the closest match helped by carbonation. The fizz adds dimension and delightfully mimics the acidity you would find in a classic glass of wine.
- Next, explore still whites and rosés. These tend to offer a more subtle yet still satisfying representation of their alcoholic counterparts.
- Venturing beyond bubbles and still whites and rosés? Expect still red wines to be the trickiest. Reds offer a vast array of complex flavours and aromas. From fruity and floral to spicy and earthy notes; not to mention scents that evoke fruits, flowers, herbs, spices, and mineral nuances. The process of removing alcohol requires a lot of care to protect the full-bodied experience of a red wine. However, some reasonably good options do exist, so be open to trying different brands.
Remember, taste is subjective!
Ultimately, the best way to find your favorite non-alcoholic wine is to explore different styles and brands. Don't hesitate to experiment and use us to narrow down the scope while having fun with it!
Are non-alcoholic spirits any good?
The answer to this question will very much depend on how you plan to use the non-alcoholic spirit. But fear not, here's a general roadmap for navigating this exciting terrain.
Seeking a familiar spirit experience?
- The burn! Forget the harsh bite of alcohol; these non-alcoholic spirits boast a completely new and unique experience. Distillers look to capture the essence of your favorite spirits using unique botanicals, herbs, and spices.
- Best when mixed! Non-alcoholic spirits empower you to create sophisticated and delicious non-alcoholic cocktails, replicating the complexity of classic cocktails you know and love. Craving the zesty kick of a gin and tonic, the smooth warmth of a whiskey sour, or the refreshing tang of a margarita, minus the alcohol? You got it! You want a peaty scotch? This will be difficult!
- Venture beyond hard spirits! Explore the world of botanical blends. Many non-alcoholic spirit brands offer unique creations that combine fruits, botanicals, and spices to create complex and intriguing flavour profiles. These can be a great way to discover new taste sensations.
Remember, experimentation is key!
Don't be afraid to try different brands and styles of non-alcoholic spirits. Some may be more successful at replicating traditional spirits, while others offer exciting new flavour experiences. Use us as your guide to speed up discovery and avoid pitfalls!
Do you have any low sugar options?
Finding the perfect low-sugar drink is all about your unique taste preferences!
Prioritizing beverages containing low to no sugar?
- Read nutrition labels! One of the advantage of non-alcoholic drinks is better labelling. Most commercially-available non-alcoholic drinks will have sugar content listed on the label. Look for options with "no sugar added" or "low sugar" on the label.
- Choose natural sweeteners! If some sweetness is desired, opt for drinks with natural sweeteners instead of refined sugar.
- Embrace the fizz! Seltzers and naturally flavoured sparkling waters are all excellent, refreshing choices for low to no sugar.
- Use non-alcoholic spirits! Non-alcoholic spirits use spices, herbs, and botanicals to create warmth, depth, and complexity. This is great news for those avoiding sugar. Since non-alcoholic spirits are typically naturally low or sugar-free, you can take control over the sugar content of your drink by choosing low or sugar-free mixers.
- Prioritize great non-alcoholic wine and beer! Sugar can counteract harsh or tart flavours, heighten the perception of other flavours, mask unpleasant aftertastes, and add body and texture for a well-rounded mouthfeel. However, while sugar can be really useful in balancing beverages, it's not always necessary. Many people enjoy the natural tartness or bitterness of certain drinks. Additionally, with mindful use of other ingredients like fruits, herbs, and spices, you can achieve a balanced and flavourful beverage without a lot of added sugar.
With so many delicious low-sugar options available, you are sure to find one that suits your individual beverage preferences.

Do you carry any non-alcoholic gluten-free beers?
We carry several non-alcoholic beers that are gluten-reduced, with less than 20 PPM per serving.
Are you shopping for someone who has celiac disease or a severe gluten allergy?
- Gluten-free non-alcoholic beers are brewed using grains that are naturally gluten-free, such as sorghum, millet, or rice.
- Gluten-removed non-alcoholic beers are beers that are brewed with gluten-containing grains, but the gluten is removed later in the brewing process. This can be done through various methods, such as filtration or enzymes. These non-alcoholic beers may still contain trace amounts of gluten (e.g. less than 20 ppm).
- Look for certification: Look for non-alcoholic beers that are certified gluten-free by a reputable third-party organization.
- Read the label carefully: Even if a beer is labeled as "gluten-free," it is still important to read the label carefully to check for any gluten-containing ingredients.
- Be aware of cross-contamination: Some breweries may produce both gluten-containing and gluten-free beers.
If you are not sure whether a non-alcoholic beer is gluten-free, it is probably best to err on the side of caution and avoid it.
How is it a non-alcoholic bottle shop if some contain <0.5% ABV?
We sell plenty of options containing 0% Alcohol By Volume ("ABV"). However, the threshold to be considered non-alcoholic is 0.5% ABV. At that level, alcohol content is considered trace amounts and comparable to what you might find in some regularly consumed foods and drinks.
Not all "non-alcoholic" means 0% ABV. While the term "non-alcoholic" could be mistaken as implying no alcohol content, it is important to pay attention to the details for each drink.
- Truly alcohol-free (0% ABV): These are drinks that were never fermented and never contained alcohol in the first place.
- Trace amounts from flavourings: Even in non-alcoholic drinks, some natural flavourings can contain trace amounts of alcohol.
- De-alcoholized drinks: These drinks start as alcoholic beverages but undergo a process to remove almost all the alcohol. While reduced to next to nothing, these drinks may still contain trace amounts of alcohol (less than 0.5% ABV).
Important Points to Remember:
Check the label: The alcohol content should be listed on the label of most non-alcoholic drinks.
Sensitivity matters: Even trace amounts of alcohol may be a concern for people in sobriety, living with certain medical conditions, or avoiding alcohol for religious reasons. In these cases, it is best to stick with drinks labeled 0% ABV or specifically formulated to be alcohol-free.
